Sharing A Pie-Palooza Collection;colid=6571683:Collection:2939371;es=1;

In light of the ridiculous downpour soaking California, and the next pounding of snow on deck for the East coast, it feels like a great time to hunker down and crank up the oven. What else is there to do? If you are looking for a great way to spend your time stuck in the house, make a few pies! Custard, cream, fruit, savory meat, grilled, mini…we have them all. Some of these have been shared with friends, others have been entered into contests, one or two may be published elsewhere. All of them have been delicious.

Did you know March 14 is Pi Day? If you cook often, you know that math actually does pop up in baking, so your teachers were right about needing to know the basics of arithmetic. Maybe you’ll pen 3.14 new recipes. Perhaps you’ll eat 3.14 slices that day. The math will stay the same, but the results may differ. The best part of coming up with a pie recipe, or sharing an adaptation, is seeing just how many variations there are in the world. There’s even more math involved with that calculation, but we’re eaters, not masters of analytics! No doubt you could come up with your own version using one of our’s for inspiration. Enjoy all of the pie!

  1. Would you believe there is a bowl in our fridge right now with sliced and spiced apples for an apple pie? These look wonderful! Great idea. Thanks for letting us know what day it is 🙂 We can always trust you to keep us informed Chrystal and Amir!

  2. Yup. We sure are being slammed with lots of snow and I love it! More to come next week. Not baking pies as much as flans, as you’d imagine. Love this round up though. I really need to make some lemon meringue. One of my faves! 🙂 Pie day. That’s some, just some, inspiration to do something on the 14th.
